First off, if you are just reading this now, you are beind. The folks at Esquire have pushed out a great guide for NYE celebrants. Each hour features specific tasks/guidelines to follow to have an enjoyable evening and an easy New Years Day.
I saw that my host for the evening is already prepped and I am doing my pre-work too. Drinking is an art. Remember my old (borrowed) saying, “Swagger not stagger!”

Wow, that was long-winded…
Sweet wines are Meliss’ favorite, while I prefer moderate Pinot Noir/Merlots varieties. We are going to try some Port tonight and see how sweet it really is.

So far, I’ve had plenty of time to drink… I mean THINK about summer cocktails and the drink we came up with we are calling the Morgan.
Ingredients:
Sunkist Lemonade
1/2 oz Lime Juice + Rind
2 oz Malibou Rum
It tastes very light and crisp; Summer-y one might say. The “suntan lotion” taste/smell of the Malibou is offset by the lime and sparkling lemonade.

Summer is here and whether you have a boat, a friend with a boat, or just like to hang out on the beach, you look like you could use a drink.
Guyism has a couple drinks that are crisp, cold, and are sure to appeal to everyone. I am personaly getting a bucket of the tequila and “fixin’s” ready for The 4th. Don’t worry, it’s clean.
Check out what I’m talking about and find the recipes here.

Yes, it’s true. There is a convention / competition for people who build robots to make cocktails. That is the coolest thing since robot wars came out a few years ago. The Shot Bot combines Pac Man and drinking… well SHOTS! Benny the Booze Organ was an old fashion looking drink mixing machine for the Steam Punks in all of us.
Sheck out the site and the 2010 winners. I’m already starting to think my contest entry, a Martini Mixing Mower… combine something I love with something I hate…

The boys of our montly dinner club have decided that this summer will feature two distinct drinks; throwback beer and Jameson and Ginger Ale, or Jamo and Ginger as our skeletal looking waitress calls them. Seriously, the restaurant had 10 pretty decent looking waitresses and Skeletor’s sister…our waitress. But she did have the two qualities that make a bar and grill waitress a great one, she never stopped serving us (even when we were loud) and she didn’t take any of our shit. Bless her heart!
A throwback beer might be a Keystone, Fosters, PRB, or any other old/cheap beer that tastes like the can it was served in. You can usually find them at the liquor store under a thick layer of dust or anywhere in Wisconson. Learn more at Collegehappenings.com

The dictionary defines a Cocktail as:
Any of various short mixed drinks, consisting typically of gin, whiskey, rum, vodka, or brandy, with different admixtures, as vermouth, fruit juices, or flavorings, usually chilled and frequently sweetened.
This summer a number of usual cocktail recipe providers are listing beer cocktails as their go-to drinks; Beer and tomato juice, Beer and Clamato, etc.
What do you think of these? Are there others that you know of that are pretty good?

What holiday is complete without finding new ways to consume liquor? The Bachelor Guy and Maker’s Mark have a couple recipes that are sure to make a backyard barbeque. When I read through them, I was reminded of an episode of “Iron Chef,” only this secret ingredient is bourbon.
Now, I don’t imagine you all will be in a hurry to pick up Kobe beef to make burgers. In fact, it pretty much defeats the purpose of choosing Kobe beef to begin with…
